Back surgery and Babies.

“This is a place where grandmothers hold babies on their laps under the stars and whisper in their ears that the lights in the sky are holes in the floor of heaven.”~Rick Bragg

I really intented to keep up with this blog but things have been CRAZY!!!! Mom, Hubs and I went home for the Holidays. A few weeks before we got home Hubs was having some pain in his leg. A couple days after arriving at my brothers, I took him to the ER. The doctor told him he had a pulled hamstring and to walk with crutches. He tried that for a few days until the pain was so bad, he was in tears. We went back to the ER and they told us it was definitely a pulled hamstring, and to stay on the crutches. The next day Hubs wouldn’t get out of bed, he said the pain was so bad, he was crying and told me something was wrong. His leg was going numb all the way to his foot and all the way around his waist. I freaked and told him I was taking to Jacksonville to a real hospital. When we arrived he was taken immediately to MRI, where they called in a neurosurgeon. The neurosurgeon was in disbelief, he told Hubs he had the biggest bulging disc he had ever seen. He told us if we would have waited another few days to come in Hubs would have been paralyzed. The surgeon admitted Hubs into the hospital and came in the next morning, on his day off and did emergency surgery on Hubs back. It’s been three monthes and I can’t thank that surgeon enough!

We enjoyed Christmas with the kids, Hei Hei. She was so excite, this was her second Christmas and she knew what presents were this year. And Hubs/Hino was so happy he could enjoy playing with Hei Hei pain free. Hei Hei’s mommy was nine months pregnant during Christmas. So we were blessed with another beautiful Granddaughter in January. Mei Mei! Making January my most feared month! Hubs, Hei Hei, Mei Mei, and the girls Mommy have birthdays in January.

We left for this years trip on Valentine’s day, and drove six hours to Big Cypress Preserve, in Ochopee Fl. That will next weeks story. Love Y’all!

Hello…Is it me you’re looking for!?

“All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost.”

Hi! I’m Toni, but favorite person in the world calls me Nonna. My husband and I were married on St. Patricks day. Hubs is awesome! We decided that since I had recently became disabled ( we’ll cover that later) and could no longer work, that we should sell all of our worldy possessions and move into a 300 sq ft travel trailer. Now you have to really love someone to live in a 30ft tin can and travel all the time!

Our happy home.

Last year we officially traveled 10,000 miles and visited 14 states. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas and Indiana. Phew, I can’t believe I remembered them all. We love to find a traditional or cultural dish from each state we visit. We usually try the dish at a restaurant and then I try and recreate the recipe. I’m kind of a Jill of all trades. I love to cook, take pictures, sew and travel. I have the go bug right now. We are currently parked at my brothers house, he blessed us by putting in a hook up in his yard. This helps us out because we can save a few dollars for next years journey. We are planning to start on February 1 this year. We are home for the Holidays and the birth of granddaughter number 2.

If you’re reading this then thank you so very much. Share it with friends but also understand this is my first time writing a blog and I’m excited to share my life with you. I’m hope you were looking for me.
